Car Scrappage Comes to Russia

Federal car scrappage plan starts on the 8th of March in Kaluga region and ends in November 2010.
      
      Government authorities chose 16 auto dealers and three utilization companies, which will destroy complete cars, weighing no more than 3.5 tons, produced before 1999 and owned for more than 1 year by the latest owner. 5those, who want their old car to be utilized, can buy a new one with a discount.
      
      Utilization costs about 3 000 rubles, which is around $100, which are to be paid by car owner. Car scrappage programme in Kaluga region is aimed at spurring customer demand for cars.
