Russian physicists help engineers to understand why some engines fail during tests and to create a technique for preventing aircraft accidents.
The technique is based upon wavelet-analysis, a mathematical method, which allows analyzing frequency components of signals with time referencing of their peculiar features. In case of flight accidents wavelets help preventing dangerous events within time interval, during which changes could be made or some consequences avoided.
Researchers have following solutions – they can tell whether an engine is working too intensively before it breaks, and they can find the reason for such unstable work. All mentioned solutions exist in the form of software, which can be adapted according client’s requirements.
