Yuri Gagarin’s autograph of 1965, a spacesuit worn by cosmonaut Anatoli Artsebarsky, pieces of Soyuz shuttles that rocketed into space and a Mir Space Station control panel are among dozens of Soviet space program items for sale this month at Toronto auction House in Canada.
The other interesting items include a pointing scope used during the Cold War to spy on the United States from a Soviet Almaz military space station, mechanical items such as thruster engine covers, observation portholes, control panels and landing brake engines. The collection of 40 lots is expected to draw tens of thousands of dollars. The cost of an item may vary from 100 USD up to 25 000 USD.
The Soviet space program is famous for the first satellite to orbit the Earth, the first ballistic missile launch, the first human in space, and the first probes of Venus and Mars. The space program items become available for sale since the collapse of the Soviet Union in1991.
