Russian medical engineers have strong intention to develop a domestic magnetic resonance scanner for medical purposes by 2011.
Scientists plan finish research and engineering development by the end of this year and start producing main elements and nodes of the scanner. Test scanner will be forwarded to medical institutions in 2011.
No magnetic resonance scanners are produced in Russia and CIS countries at the moment. However, Russian industry provides all necessary components, including low-temperature superconductors, for making domestic MR scanners. Moreover, many qualified domestic experts in nuclear magnetic resonance are waiting to be employed.
