The famous actor and priest Ivan Okhlobystin cannot work as a clergyman anymore. The actor was prompted this idea by numerous brickbats about his role in Pavel Lungin’s Tsar.
A priest should not play the role of a God’s fool, they claim. So, Okhlobystin sent a petition to Patriarch Kirill, and asked to dismiss him from service, until “in search of his mission and place in the world he does not find the right question and the only answer to it”, as the letter goes.
Recently the actor got the reply.
“One has to abide by church canons, in accordance with which priesthood and acting are incompatible. Until solving the issue of your professional activity you are banned from priesthood. You should not wear the priest robe and cross” – the patriarch answered.
