Hotel in Saint Petersburg Named after Dostoevsky’s Character Sonya Marmeladova

The Reval Hotel Sonya named so after Sonya Marmeladova, the characters of Dostoevsky’s novel Crime and Punishment, has been opened today in Saint Petersburg.

It became the first Russian hotel of the large-scale Norwegian hotel chain Reval Hotels.
The location of the hotel - the Liteiny Prospekt in the historical centre of Petersburg is not accidental. In the 19th century lots of bookshops were concentrated in this area.

The novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky, which is considered one of the most famous guide-books on Saint Petersburg determined the design concept and the name of the hotel, the company’s CEO Linstow AS Tore Bjorke told to ITAR-TASS correspondent.

The company invested 1 billion and 600 million roubles into the construction of the hotel. The four-star hotel has 173 rooms.
