The high-speed trains Sapsan will connect Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg. It would take one hour to get from one city to another, instead of the current situation, when the fastest variant, by car, takes 3 hours. The speed of Sapsan is 200 250 km/h, but such speeds are possible yet on the section Moscow St. Petersburg only, after it was considerably reconstructed.
It means, the fast trips in Siberia will be possible in 5 years only, but the work in this direction is already begun.

There is a program which supposes applying the high-speed trains on some main Russian home and international routes. It includes services Moscow St.Petersburg, Moscow Nizhniy Novgorod, St. Petersburg Helsinki. First one is already functioning others are awaited in the nearest time. The routes Moscow Smolensk western frontier and Centre South are being developed.
