Scientists of Russia are excited to learn that the only Russian scientific satellite came back with its signals. This is the first time scientists received information collected by the “Koronas-Photon”, since it has stopped broadcasting almost a month ago. However, it is very early to claim the solar observatory to be back with all its functions as there is a low battery charge level yet. Estimated time to bring it back to life is about ten days.
“Koronas-Photon” was launched in January 2009. This is the first scientific satellite for the last decade made without help of Ukrainian colleagues. This satellite carries such scientific facilities as “Tesis” – an observatory to monitor solar activity in X-ray and ultraviolet spectra, electron and proton telescope “STEP-F”, high energy x-ray spectrometer “PINGVIN-M” and a variety of other devices.
