Russian scientists have developed sensors, which allow prevention of terrorist attacks on railways using GLONASS system.
Researchers based their development on the GLONASS satellite navigation network, which covers territories of Russian Federation. These sensors help warning and stopping trains on particular parts of the railways, where suspicious actions were detected.
The sensors will be extremely useful and help saving lives of millions of railway passengers. They might have prevented the terrorist attack on “Nevsky Express”, which happened on November 27, 2009 and killed 26 people.
