Russian Scientists Found Unique Neutrino Properties
Neutrino oscillation

Russian scientists have participated in the project, which will shed light on the mystery of matter prevailing over antimatter in our Universe.
The T2K (Tokai-to-Kamioka) experiment, performed on November 24, 2009, detected first muon-type neutrinos from new neutrino flow, created on high-current proton accelerator J-PARC in Tokai, Japan.
A complex of large detectors, installed 280 metres away form the target, registered first three neutrino events. This corresponded with predicted results, which considered beam parameters and detector properties.
Recent research showed that neutrino had a strange property, called neutrino oscillations, meaning that three neutrino types electron, muon and tau-neutrino rtanspormed into each other during their expansion to space. This fact contradicts with classic model of elementary particles and modern theory, because such behaviour is possible only when neutrino has some mass. In other words, physicists discovered a new physical phenomenon.
Ordinary people can benefit from this discovery by introduction of avalanche micropixel photodiodes and detectors of new type of ionizing radiation.
