Ticket sales for Sapsan high-speed trains opened

The Russian Railways has opened ticket sales for the high-speed trains Sapsan (produced by Siemens), which will begin running between St. Petersburg and Moscow on the Friday, December, 18. The tickets are available in the offices of the Russian Railways since Friday, November, 19.

On the December, 18 two first trains of the high-speed service, N 151 and N 152 will depart from Moscow and St. Petersburg at the same time, 6. 45 o’clock in the morning. According to the schedule, both of them reach their destination points, St. Petersburg and Moscow, already at 10.30 a.m. These trains, and the trains N 157 and N 158 as well (departure at 7. 00 p.m., arrival at 10. 45 p.m.) will go through without a stop.

There are also Sapsan services N 155 and N 156 following with some stops. They depart from the both capitals at 1. 00 a.m. and arrive at 5. 15 p.m.

The second class ticket costs not less than 2, 400 rubles, so a question emerges, why should the passengers prefer these high-speed trains, new and fast, but even more expensive, than air services between the capitals, which cost from 1, 500 rubles and are faster? Nevertheless, the target audience of the service exists, other way the long history of this expensive project looks absurd.

In this connection we can offer you various kinds of guided excursions around Moscow and Saint Petersburg, regardless of your transportation preferences.
