This year we celebrate 110th Anniversary of Sergei Esenin’s birthday. First Festival of Students’ Scientific, Artistic and Literature Creativity “Esenin’s Spring” was held in Ryasan on the threshold of the jubilee.
      More than a hundred participants competed in four nominations – they took part in Student Scientific Conference and Project Competition “S.A. Esenin as seen by young researchers”, tried their best in “Esenin’s successors” literature contest and “World of Esenin’s reflections” artistic creativity contest, and also in “Esenin’s springs” music contest.
      Ryasan Esenin State Pedagogic University appeared to be Festival’s founder and organizer. The idea of the Festival was boosted by city and regional educational authorities and regional culture authorities.
      The attention of judges and guests of the Festival was drawn to student poetical albums, art canvases, self-composed music pieces and scientific publications, book “Sergei Esenin – a Warrior” among them. The author of the book is Alexey Dudin, 4th year student of Ryasan State Pedagogic University’s Arts School. Alexey Dudin holds Russian Federation Governmental Fellowship and is a winner of Youth Delphic Games held in Ryasan recently.
      The cultural program of the Festival was entertaining and diversified – there was a presentation of recent issue of the scientific methodological magazine “Modern Eseninology”, also issued by Ryasan State Pedagogic University; festival guests met actors and musicians, had a chance to see a RSPU Student Theater performance based on V. Rosov’s play “Ever living”, and visit poet’s native village – Konstaninovo.
      “Esenin’s Spring” Festival turned out to be a real celebration of spring, youth and poetry, and participants at one decided to hold it every year. In next year of 2006 the organizers decided to invite students from 18 regions of Central Federal District to take part in the festival. The festival would eventually become an all-Russian event.
      Ryasan State Pedagogic University plans more interesting events this year – the year of 110th Anniversary since Esenin was born. Ryasan University hosts the International Scientific Conference “Esenin at the turn of epochs: results and prospects” on the first of October 2005. The University also plans to open Esenin’s Museum and to continue working on innovative scientific project “Esenin and Internet: New Poet’s Website Modification”. RSPU Esenin Center is going to contribute to regional teacher contest “Esenin Lessons in Schools” and to proceed with experimental advanced school study program “Road to Esenin” testing. Best university student will be awarded personal Esenin fellowship.
