The 3rd International Modern Film Festival will be held in Moscow from October 16 to 19. The festival will be dedicated to its president, film director, actor, scriptwriter and poet Ivan Dykhovichnyy.
A Muscovite by birth, forty years ago he played on stage of Leningrad Theatre of Miniatures, today called the Variety Theatre. Later he returned to Moscow, to play in the theatre “Na Taganke” and 10 years past left the stage and entered the courses for film directors. His very first work, the screen version of Chekhov’s The Black Monk (Chyornyy monakh) (1988) attracted viewers’ attention. His film Music for December (Muzyka dlya dekabrya) was screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The film Europe-Asia (2009) turned to be his last work.
Ivan Dykhovichnyy died in one of the hospitals of Moscow after a long-lasting disease, aged 61, on September 27, 2009. He was laid to rest in Novodevichi Cemetery.
