The Hermitage collection vase that cracked in France will be returned to Saint Petersburg for restoration in several days. The 19th century vase by Émile Gallé is evaluated at “hundreds of thousands euro”.
The staff of the museum of Vic-sur-Seille noticed the crack on July 22nd , when the exhibit was already on display, protected by glass. The vase decorated with painting of tropical orchids had been provided intact from the Hermitage Museum. After examining the exhibit the staff of Hermitage decided to perform all restoration works in Petersburg.
Let us recall, that the Russian museum learned about the crack not before the 10th of August. Right after it Hermitage experts went to France to examine the precious exhibit.
