Gold of Kolchak to be Searched for at Bottom of Baikal Lake

Deep-diving manned vehicles Mir-1 and Mir-2 will carry out several submersions in the southern part of Lake Baikal in order to confirm or refute assumptions that the gold train of Kolchak lies at the bottom of the lake.

It is interesting to note that on August 29th divers found fragment of carriages, supposedly, dating to the Civil War period, however, the researchers are not perfectly sure about the age of the find. They have raised the contorted details of constructions on the surface and are waiting for the verdict of historians and archeologists.

It might be that very train, which was transporting the legendary gold of Kolchak, unsuccessfully searched for many years by treasure hunters.

“The gold of Kolchak” is part of the gold reserve of Russia, which was sent to Kazan by order of tsarist government during World War I. In 1918 that gold was captured by the White Guard under the leadership of Kolchak. During their retreat to the East part of the riches disappeared without a trace. Historians suppose that, perhaps, the train transporting that gold sank in Baikal.
