A ceremony of prize presentation to winners of the film festival Window to Europe took place in the medieval castle of Vyborg.
The Golden Boat in the main contest, the feature film category, went to Andrey Khrzhanovskiy’s Room and a Half dedicated to poet Joseph Brodsky. It is a touching and sentimental contemplation on the soviet era and tragic life of the famous poet. The feature film is based on Brodsky’s essays. The poet’s drawings and excerpts from his biography are intertwined with his prose texts.
The jury’s special prize, the Silver Boat was awarded to Nana Dzhordzhiadze’s Meteoidiot “for the artistic solution”.
The Silver Boat was also given to Alisa Frejndlikh for the best female role in Room and a Half, and Mikhail Efremov for the best male role in Pussycat by Grigori Konstantinopolsky.
In the animated film contest the Golden Boat went to Soldier’s Song by Yelena Chernova. As for the non-fiction film category, the grand prize was taken by Pavel Kostomarov with his Two Together.
