Viktor Tsoi on Bike Monument Unexpectedly Appears in Petersburg

A Viktor Tsoi monument has arrived in Saint Petersburg. The plaster sculpture depicting the legendary rock musician sitting on a bike has been set up in Nevski Prospect in front of the cinema Avrora.

The monument was created as far back as seven years ago by the Moscow sculptor Aleksei Blagovestnov. The setting of the monument is timed to coincide with the screening of Aleksei Uchitel’s documentary Posledniy geroy (The Last Hero).

Initially the monument to the frontman of the cult band Kino had been planned to be set up in Moscow, where it stood in several places, but did not take up any constant place of abode. Most of the fans cannot accept the monument’s concept and remind that Viktor Tsoi never ever had a bike.

Plaster Viktor Tsoi will not stay long in Saint Petersburg either, only till the 15th of August, and then will go on a peculiar tour around cities of Russia. According to the author’s idea, the sculpture is to finish its journey in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame in New York.
