The talented Russian musician and actor Pavel Smeyan has died of cancer at the age of 52 in a hospital in Germany.
Pavel Smeyan was born in Moscow, graduated from the Gnesins' State Institute of Music majoring in saxophone. From the very start he was employed in various philharmonics, worked in Rosconcert and the Lenkom Theatre.
His first songs first appeared on records of the Rock Atelier band in 1981. Later the songwriter released three music albums.
Within his period of creative activity Pavel Smeyan dubbed and played roles and recorded songs for more than 20 movies and animations, the popular Mary Poppins, Goodbye, There's Good Weather in Deribasovskaya, It's Raining Again in Brighton Beach among them, and sang in the famous rock operas The Star and Death of Joaquin Murrieta, Juno and Avos.
