New Chemical Element Coming Up in July
Ununseptium, element no. 117

Cooperation of Russian and American scientists will result in synthesis of a new chemical element.

New superheavy chemical element 117th of Mendeleyev periodic table will appear by this July in Joint Institute of Nuclear research in Dubna. The Institute is responsible for synthesis of five heaviest chemical elements.

American colleagues agree to provide berkelium, element no. 97, necessary for the synthesis, and Russian scientists will contribute to the joint project with equipment for a powerful ion beam.

Since berkelium is synthesize, it lives only 320 days, thus researchers have limited time for their experiment.
