An exhibition of rare books about Russian diplomacy has just opened in the new building of the Russian National Library in Petersburg, the city’s Culture Committee informs.
The exposition includes rare editions of the 18th – 21st cc from collection of the Russian National Library. In particular, the visitors will see books and documents telling about the Embassy Order of the Moscow State, about establishment of the Collegiate Organ for Foreign Affairs, about diplomacy of the epoch of Catherine the Great and Alexander the First, about establishment of People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of the USSR, and about the present-day structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
At the exhibition you will learn about a hundred of outstanding diplomats of Russia. One of the sections is dedicated to Russian and Soviet ministers for foreign affairs. The highlight of the exposition is the account of those diplomats who gained fame in the field of literature: Fonvizin, Griboedov, Pyotr Aleksandrovich Tolstoy, and Tyutchev.
