Chelsea have moved quickly to quash reports that owner Roman Abramovich is looking to sell the club by threatening legal action against The Sunday Times.
      
      The Sunday Times newspaper revealed Russian tycoon had sent representatives to Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi in order to seek buyers for the club. This rumour turned out to be untrue, and now Chelsea are seeking compensation for what they feel is defamation against them.
      
      A club statement released by Chelsea said: "Defamation proceedings will be commenced tomorrow (Monday) in London by Roman Abramovich against the publishers of The Sunday Times. "Mr Abramovich has already made quite clear, through the directors of Chelsea, that he has no intention of doing so and that neither he nor anyone upon his behalf has been pursuing any such course of action."
