Russian engineers kidnapped in Nigeria

Unknown gunmen have abducted two Russian aluminum engineers in Nigeria. They snatched them from company housing near the town of Ikot-Abasi. The abductees worked for the Russian ‘Rusal’ company.

Around 60 Russian specialists are working at the Alscon plant in the state of Akwa Ibom. Six Russians were kidnapped from the same plant last year. More than 200 foreigners have been kidnapped in nearly three years of violence across the south of the country. The hostages usually are released after a ransom is paid.
