Extraterrestrial Beer – Taste from Space
Barley grown in outer space

Within the joint project with Russian Academy of Sciences Japanese brewers made beer from barley, grown at International space station.

The exclusive beer has 5.5% strength. Japanese brewers say they use only barley for this beer, no other ingredients. Commercial production of the unusual drink is expected to start soon.

Cosmonauts had no chance to try space beer, however, they will be able to taste it upon their arrival to Earth.

Barley is not the only plant, grown at International space station. Other “space dwellers” are wheat, lettuce and pea. Potatoes are in the queue.
