Remains of Biysk Trinity Cathedral Found by Archeologists

Remains of Biysk Trinity Cathedral and a sepulchral vault with tombs of the town head and other honorary dwellers have been found during archeological diggings in Biysk. The cathedral was exploded in 1934.
This is where in the 19th century the town dwellers welcomed the Great Prince Vladimir Aleksandrovich Romanov, son of the Emperor Alexander II. He was passing through Biysk on his way to Gorny Altai, to Lake Teletskoye.
Before the revolution the Cathedral Square was a venue for parades; in 1914 a public prayer was held here before a considerable part of men from the town were sent to World War I.
Among the finds there is a zinc coffin, wrought nails and staples, metal from the roof of the Trinity Cathedral, forged decorative fragments of railing, and remnants of earthenware altogether about 180 pieces.
