“Buran”

Russian expert in machine construction assumes Russia can get back to using space shuttle “Buran”, but with some change.

Today Russian space industry utilizes “Zenith” rocket carrier (part of “Energia”) nd other technical solutions.

Orbital vehicle “Buran” was aimed at performing broad-spectrum activities in space, for instance, delivering up to 30 tons of cargo to the orbit and returning with up to 20 tons of useful load.

“Buran” was launched by means of universal carrier rocket “Energia”, and its first launch took place on November 15, 1988. All systems of the rocket and the vehicle worked normally, and “Buran” landed at Baikonur as an ordinary aircraft.
