The merited film and theatre actor Sergei Bekhterev has died, aged 50, following a serious long disease, in Saint Petersburg.
The Honoured Artist of Russia and the USSR State Prize winner Sergei Bekhterev for many years was the leading actor of Maly Drama Theatre in Petersburg. He staged the production "Vaslav Nijinsky. Wedded to God” after the diaries of the famous ballet dancer, and performed the lead himself.
Bekhterev was also popular in cinema and on television. His most well-known screen works include the films The Voice (Golos) (1982), Believe It or Not (Nebyvalshchina) (1983), The Blonde Around the Corner (Blondinka za uglom) (1983), The Life of Klim Samgin (Zhizn Klima Samgina) (1986), and The Tuner (Nastroyshchik) (2004).
