60 Archeological Monuments May Be Drowned

Archeologists request to postpone the date of flooding the water storage basin of Boguchansk water power plant in Krasnoyarsk Territory, in order to complete salvage archeological works.
      Active archeological exploration in the area of the future water reservoir of the Boguchansk water power plant, now under construction, has been carried out in the recent two years, though the building started about thirty years ago.
      Today the expected flood zone of the power plant contains 60 known archeological monuments. In case these objects of archeological heritage are ruined the losses can exceed 17 milliard rubles. Meanwhile the start of flooding is scheduled for 2010.
