Today the crew of International space station actively fulfills scientific space programme – cosmonauts will perform 11 experiments in biology, geophysics and space medicine.
Experiment schedule lists “Biorisk”, the programme on assessment of negative effect of zero gravitation on biological materials, located on outer shell of the station, and “Rasteniya (Plants)-1”, test of various humidification and aeration systems for root areas under zero gravity conditions.
Within medical research programme cosmonauts will continue studying dynamics of ISS’s radiation environment in order to improve means of space radiation control.
“BTN-Neutron” unit will register high-energy neutron flows; “GTS” hardware will check the system of exact local time determination in any place on our planet. The ISS crew will also monitor seismic effect in near-earth space.
Biotechnological research includes “Antigen” (irradiation of biological samples), “Biotrack” (studying effects of heavy charged particles of space radiation on genetic properties of cells, producing biologically active substances), “Lactolene” (how space flight affects lactolene-producing strains) and “OchB” (production of improved recombinant producers of biologically active substances)
