Gazprom reduces gas price for Europe

Europe will get gas from Russian Gazprom at about $350-$400 per thousand cubic meters in the I quarter of 2009, the monopoly's Deputy Director General Sergei Chelpanov said. It now pays $460-$520 per thousand cubic meters of Russian gas.
The price drop is the result of reducing oil prices on the world market. Gazprom Head Alexei Miller said earlier, if oil sells for $250 per barrel the gas price will jump up to thousands of dollars per thousand cubic meters. The recent week saw $60-$70 per thousand cubic meters of oil.
Last week Gazprom, the world's largest gas company, said the global liquidity crisis could affect its ability to refinance debts, and may have an impact on its cashflow forecasts.
