In the course of excavations on a site 180 square meters large on the bank of River Don archeologists have found remains of monastic buildings.
The researchers have ascertained that this is the Transfiguration Convent of the 12-13th cc, later abolished, with two wooden churches and various accessory buildings.
Apart from that, in the centre of Lebedyan town of Lipetsk Region the expedition members have found stucco moldings and circular ceramics, animal bones, fragments of glass vessels, articles of iron, stone, and copper, an arrowhead of the Old Russian epoch, and a quarter-copeck coin of 1733.
