Ural Archeologists Fear to Tell Journalists About Their Finds

A special scientific program should be devised to research the north of the Sverdlovsk Region, Ural archeologists assert.

According to Aleksandr Shorin, the Science Deputy Director of History and Archeology Institute, Ural RAS, there are more than 3000 archeological monuments in the Sverdlovsk Region today. “We cannot dig out everything, and we do not even aim to. I can say that some time ago we discovered some tumuli five to six meters high. Yet, I am not going to disclose their location, because an unhealthy interest in them has already been displayed”, the scientist pointed out.

Meanwhile the research works are often performed on a contractual basis, i.e. the archeologists go and examine a future building site for presence of historical monuments, so that they would not be ruined by builders.
