This year Russian citizens will participate in the DV-2010 green card lottery program. The US embassy in Moscow said e-applications will be submitted from October 2nd to December 1st 2008.
      
      Several years ago Russia was removed from the list of countries participating in the green card program because there were too many Russians immigrating to the US. The program was specifically meant for countries with low emigration rate.
      
      The recent poll by the Russian Public Opinion Research center says that 50% of Russians does not want to leave the country at all. 35% would like to travel to other countries, 9% get a work experience abroad, and only 8% said they were ready to immigrate.
