Firemen Ruin Concert of Deep Purple

The long-awaited concert of the legendary Deep Purple celebrating its 40th anniversary on stage has been prohibited for reasons of fire safety in Nizhni Novgorod.

The rock group had resolved to perform in Russia and Ukraine in the framework of its large-scale tour. 21 October was expected to see their concert in Nizhni Novgorod.

Yet it turned out that the Sports Palace planned as the concert venue is not ready to host the British rock stars.

As a representative of The Ministry of the Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) explained to Interfax, the building had been under reconstruction since the previous year, and so only mass events on ice were allowed, while performances with pyrotechnical shows were prohibited.

According to the official, the administration of the Sports Palace had known about the fire-prevention requirements and nevertheless had agreed to host the concert. Meanwhile the tour organizers are already summing up the losses, which make up about 80-90 thousand Euro. However, The Deep Purple will get their fees for the failed concert in full.
