New Approach to Earthquake Prediction Suggested
Kluchevskoi volcano erupts

Scientists from Russian region of Kamchatka suggested a new approach to long-range prediction of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Since Kamchatka is one of the regions, where most intensive earthquakes on our planet take place quite often, we should listen to them.

Kamchatka often suffers great earthquakes, reaching 9.0 on the Richter scale. Local seismologists and volcanologists perform online monitoring of seismic activity in the region. Scientists suggest four new techniques for long-range prediction of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, which are suitable for particular regions and volcanoes, as well as for the whole Earth.

Solution for earthquake forecasting is called “phase trajectory technique” and is based upon simultaneous analysis of various pairs of periodic and quasi-periodic space rhythms. The method considers secular trends of geographic poles, their 14-month wobbling, lunar tides with 19-year period, 22 year solar cycles, Wolf number fluctuations of 11-year solar cycles, and other factors, having great effect on formation on powerful events.

Suggested approach offers opportunity to perform long-range prediction of powerful earthquakes and volcanic eruptions for nearest 20-40 years.
