The author of ironic detectives Daria Dontsova has become leader of two ratings of the Russian Book Chamber for the first half of year 2008: by total number of copies (almost 4 million) and titles of books in press (68).
She is followed by writers Tatiana Ustinova (1.306 million copies) and Yuliya Shilova (1.3 million) as far as the number of copies is concerned. By the number of titles Dontsova is followed by Aleksandr Bushkov (63) and Vladimir Kolichev (50).
Fyodor Dostoevsky is in top twenty this year: 35 books of his are in press (rates 11th) with the total number of copies counting 244 thousand (rates 18th). The most published foreign authors are Danielle Steel, Sidney Sheldon, Joanna Chmielewska and Paulo Coelho.
The most popular children’s author, both by number of copies and titles is Korney Chukovsky (92 books, 1.5 million copies), followed by poet and writer Vladimir Stepanov (1.4 million) and Joan Rowling (900 thousand).
