Siemens unveiled high-speed rail cars created for Russia

Siemens AG has introduced three carriages for the first high speed train made especially for the Russian Railways company. The new cars are 30 cm wider and adjusted to work in severe environment, the head of Siemens AG in Russia said.
      
      The high-speed train named Sapsan will connect Moscow with St Petersburg. Sapsan is projected to run at top speed of 250km/h which will reduce the trip time between the cities to 3 hours. The president of Russian Railways Company assures traveling by the high speed rail will be cheaper than an air flight.
      
      First Sapsan train with 10 cars will be delivered to St. Petersburg in December 2008. Next year the train is scheduled to undergo testing, after which 8 trains more will be supplied to the city.
