A grand jam session crowned the International Music Festival The Creation of Peace in Kazan that gathered together around 200 musicians from almost thirty countries on August 30.
The festival was running non-stop from 1 pm to 10 pm, with about 100 thousand viewers who came together in Millenium Square under the walls of ancient Kazan Kremlin.
Among the illustrious performers there were: Aquarium, Nina Nastasia, Huun-Huur-Tu, Tony Levin, FSOL the Amorphous Androgynous, KTU, Adrian Belew Power Trio, Keith Emerson Band, Fairport Convention, and others.
One of the highlights of the concert was the appearance of Patti Smith with Andrei Makarevich, who jointly sang the hit of Mashina Vremeni band Poka gorit svecha (Till the Candle Shines).
At the end Russian rock star Zemfira with some Tatar roots and rock legend Patti Smith for the first time performed the cover of R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts.
