Russian engineers plan to build a unique geothermal unit at Kamchatka. The plant will be based upon Pauzhetskaya geothermal power plant, where first Russian binary power generating unit will be put into operation.
New unit allows significant rise in electric power generation due to doubling use of geothermal sources. Common geothermal unit works on hot vapour only and ignores tons of hot water, coming to the surface from Earth’s depths.
Russian scientists know how to use said water – it will heat special liquid, located in binary unit, thus activating turbine generator of the second unit and adding 2.5 MWt to power plant’s capacity.
