Zurab Tsereteli to Restore Dmitry Pozharsky Sepulcher

Zurab Tsereteli has offered his free help in restoring the sepulcher of Prince Dmitry Pozharsky in Suzdal, the Vladimir Region.
      In 1885 the building of the sepulcher cost the country 75 thousand roubles, quite an amount for those years. The money had been collected by Russian people throughout almost thirty years.
      In 1933 however the mausoleum was destroyed by the Soviet authorities. The slabs of Italian marble were to be used in construction of the Palace of the Soviets in Moscow. Thirty years later a modest gravestone was laid on the former sepulcher place in the Monastery of the Saviour and St. Euthimius of Suzdal town.
      Now finally the issue of restoring the monument has been raised. Zurab Tsereteli has agreed to work gratis for it. He is going to make an exact replica of the mausoleum gates according to the existing reliefs.
