This August sky over Russia will be sparking with millions of “falling stars”. However, this year the meteor shower will be rather “calm”, say Russian astronomers.
The peak of the meteor show will be on August 12, when spectators will see as much as one hundred of “falling stars” during one hour of observation. Sad fact for meteor lovers is that most powerful the shower will be during daytime.
This meteor stream is called Perseids, because meteors generate somewhere in the Perseus constellation. Tiny particles burn in Earth’s atmosphere, forming a magnificent “stellar shower”.
