No False Records – News of Unique Submersion
Baikal

Head of the unique expedition of two unique submersion vehicles “Mir-1” and “Mir-2” reveal truth about the experiment.

Recently Russian mass media reported about new world record of submersion in fresh water and lake Baikal being a bit deeper that we thought. Today head of the expedition denied said information as false.

Real facts are that two deep-diving vehicles reached maximum depth of 1592, not 1680, as media reported. Lake depth was 1637 meters in the site of submersion, which is not Baikal’s deepest point.
