Recently a ranking of the most politically influential businessmen has appeared in one Russian newspaper. The top position is not surprisingly given to Alexei Miller, the head of Gazprom; he is followed by Vladimir Yakunin, the head of Russian Railways. Sergey Chemezov, director general of Rostechnologii Corporation is the third on the list. All top three businessmen are also well-known politicians.
Russian tycoons Oleg Deripaska and Roman Abramovich rank fourth and fifth respectively.
Juri Kovalchuk, a joint proprietor of Bank Rossiya goes sixth; he surpassed the president of Lukoil Vagit Alekperov, who is the next on the list.
Sergei Pugachev, owning the United Industrial Corporation (OPK), is the eighth, but there is hardly a person to call him an underling.
The ranking including 125 businessmen was made by 61 experts.
