Mini Submarine for Tourists Created in Russia

Dmitry Bogachyov an engineer from Moscow has created a small submarine that can be used for reaching places inappropriate for diving. The underwater vessel has successfully undergone a number of tests and proved its safety.
The submarine can carry two persons; its weight 3.5 tons, length 3.4 metres. It is equipped with a gasoline-powered engine and can reach the depth of 60 metres and accelerate to the speed of 7km/h.
The Russian exemplar is cheaper than the foreign analogues: Dmitry Bogachyov estimates the submarine at $US100.000. If the vessel is launched in mass production of 20-30 items a year, its price might slump to $US30.000.
According to Russian experts, foreign submarines of this kind are distinguished by effective design but the Russian one is ahead in terms of safety. The submarine constructor hopes that his creation will be of interest for ecologists and tourists.
