Disabled Woman to Sue S7 Airlines for Discrimination

A Russian disabled wheelchair woman Natalya Prisetskaya intends to file a suit against S7 Airlines. On the 30th of June the air company refused to take the woman aboard without an accompanying person.

On Monday Natalya, a worker of the regional social organization for the disabled “Perspectiva”, was going to fly from Moscow to Vladikavkaz with S7 Airlines from Domodedovo airport. According to a representative of the organization, Natalya arrived to the airport on time, checked her luggage, and accompanied by the airport staff was about to get aboard plane. However, at the ramp a steward refused to take her aboard referring to some “internal instruction” and said Natalya could not fly without an accompanying person.

On the same day Natalya Prisetskaya left for Vladikavkaz from Vnukovo airport with another airline. The disabled woman considers the actions of S7 staff discriminating and intends to lodge a complaint against the airline and claim compensation for moral damage.

The S7 press-service says that the air company operated within the confines of the law when refused to take the disabled woman aboard without an accompanying person.
