Today Sukhoi Superjet 100 has made its first 40-minute flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the Khabarovsk Territory, reports Interfax News agency.
Earlier the first flight was scheduled to take place before the end of 2007, but then the test flights were deferred to May 2008.
Sukhoi Superjet 100 is the most modern Russian passenger aircraft created. The total cost of the project developed for 8 years is $1.4 billion.
Different airlines have placed orders for 73 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircrafts. Earlier it was reported tthat the cost of one aircraft would make up $27 million approximately.
Superjet 100 is to replace outdated Tu 134 and Tu 154. The new aircraft is designed to seat from 78 to 98 passangers.
