The Chechen Ulema Council headed by Sultan Mirzaev, the chief mufti of the republic, announced the need to open an independent Islam TV channel in the republic, the official site of the Chechen government reports.
According to the press-release, this question was discussed on Tuesday. The new Islam channel is supposed to encourage and promote spiritual development of the society.
The president of Chechnya earlier emphasized the role of mass media in the process of education and social development.
