Will Kazan Kremlin Remain on UNESCO World Heritage List?

The Kazan Kremlin may be excluded from the UNESCO World Heritage List - check up performed by Rossvyazokhrankultura (Russian Mass Media, Communications and Cultural Protection Service) in Tatarstan show that buildings raised nearby the Kremlin have closed several observation points and that contradicts requirements of the international organization.

The building development in the protected area of the Kazan Kremlin in recent years has been carried out with gross violations, Deputy Administrator of Rossvyazokhrankultura Tatarstan Service Salavat Sadretdinov reported.

The Kazan Kremlin is a partly restored medieval fortress, which was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List on November 30, 2000 by the three following reasons: as an exceptional evidence of cultural diversity, as the only preserved khans fortress and as an outstanding example of the synthesis of Tatar and Russian influence in architecture.
