Lukoil is permitted to produce oil in Iraq

Iraqs authirities named 35 transnational oil companies permitted to participate in upcoming bids for oil fields development and oil production in the country. Among the companies listed are Exxon Mobile, Royal Dutch Shell and Russian Lukoil.
      In 1997 Lukoil and the Iraqi Ministry of oil and gas signed a production sharing agreement on development of Western Kurna 2 field. However, the cooperation between the Iraqi authorities and Lukoils management hasnt been successful for a long time.
      Last month the president of Lukoil achieved an agreement with the Iraqi government to form a working party to update terms of implementation of Western Kurna 2 project.
