According to the statistics, circumstances of every 10th air catastrophe remain unclear. The air catastrophe that invoked death of the world’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin can be referred to those 10%. Even 40 years after the tragic death of the famous cosmonaut no one can say what exactly happened in the sky over Novoselovo village in the Vladimir Region on the 27th of March 1968.
The facts are that the strike jet MiG-15, piloted by Yuri Gagarin under the guidance of the test pilot Vladimir Seregin, crashed 3 kilometres away from Novoselovo village. It is known that nearly 200 experts took part in the investigation the results of which were prohibited from being published by the government. Part of the information still remains classified.
Gagarin’s death is surrounded by myths and fantastic versions. The most logical ones suppose that a sudden failed manoeuvre caused the crash. According to another popular version, the reason of the pilots` death was diversion. Some claimed that it was Seregin who killed Gagarin out of envy.
However, the life and death of Yuri Gagarin are still enveloped with mystery.
