Aleksei Nemov, a Russian gymnast and fourfold Olympic champion, has become one of the first torchbearers of Beijing Olympics.
      
      Nemov run with the Olympic torch in the town of Amaliada in Elida region in the Peloponnese peninsular. It took about two hours for the 40 km relay race to get from the Old Olympia up to Amaliada.
      
      ‘I have both good and unpleasant memories about Greece. I’m glad to have a chance to come here once again. I think it’s an honor for any sportsman. I’d like to put my contribution into Russian team performance, I wish our team would win the Beijing Olympics’, said Nemov.
